[Chapter 1174 “The Strongest Thing in the World”] Loki’s Ability Is a Black Dragon!

Loki

In One Piece Chapter 1174, Loki’s power may have just been revealed—and it could be far bigger than expected.

A black dragon, lightning from the sky, and the Drums of Liberation echoing at the same time.

Is Loki really connected to the legendary Thunder Dragon Nidhogg… and what does that mean for the true identity of the “Sun God”?

Loki’s Ability Is a Black Dragon!

Luffy and Loki were the ones who saved the twenty people who were falling. Luffy caught them with his “Gomu Gomu no Belly Senbei,” and he himself was standing on the back of Loki, who was flying through the sky.

As snow began to fall in the Sun World and lightning struck, the “Drums of Liberation” echoed all around. That kind of staging is so good. It showed up a bit earlier than expected, but still—here it is!

And now, Loki’s ability has finally been revealed!

ワンピース 第1174話 ルフィとロキ登場!

Loki’s ability is likely a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit—
black dragon!

In Chapter 1027, Yamato explains that a “dragon” doesn’t simply fly—it creates clouds, grabs onto them, and runs across the sky.

But Loki is depicted with black wings, and if he’s flying using those wings, then he’s probably not a “龍” in that traditional sense, but rather a “竜.”
In other words, he seems closer to a Western-style dragon.

As for the snow that started falling, it’s likely caused by the ability of “Tetsurai (Ragnir)”, the one that froze the Draugr when told, “Show them your power.”

Going by the name, though, it actually feels like lightning is what “Ragnir” is really meant to represent.

Could Loki’s “dragon” ability be something like the “Thunder Dragon (Níðhöggr)”, which also appears in MMA? It’s even depicted in the lower-right of the image above.

If that’s the case, then it would mean that the lightning is actually coming from Loki himself.

Snow = Ragnir
Lightning = Loki
Drums of Liberation = Luffy

So the question is whether that entrance scene is meant to represent each of their abilities.

Of course, it’s also possible that both the snow and the lightning are powers of Ragnir, and that Loki’s “dragon” form actually has a different, separate ability of its own.

ワンピース 第1174話 ヤルルの語る伝承

On the rare day when thundersnow strikes…!!
giant beast that covers the sky appears…

Together with the “Drums” of “Liberation,”
the “Sun God” makes his entrance…!!!

What Yaruru is describing is likely a legend passed down in Elbaf—that a dragon-like “giant beast” recognized by Ragnir will appear alongside the Sun God Nika.

The scale of it is on a completely different level, but that might be because Loki—who carries the blood of the Ancient Giants—is the one who ate the Devil Fruit. After all, Rocks D. Xebec once said something along the lines of “It only shows its true power when Harald eats it.”

The hybrid form would probably be a size that can still move around inside Aurust Castle. And if he can freely control his body size, then that suggests there could be additional abilities layered on top as well.

Still, we don’t fully know yet.

And then there’s the fact that Loki was calling himself the “Sun God.”

While he described the Sun God Nika as the “Warrior of Liberation,” he also said, “He destroys the world while laughing!!” (Chapter 1166). So in Loki’s view, Nika also has a “God of Destruction” aspect.

Even this time, he refers to himself as a “destroyer.”

In other words, “the one who destroys the world = the Sun God.”
Loki claimed that title because he believes he’s gained the power to actually make that happen.

Of course, the destruction he’s talking about would be directed at the World Government, and through that, the logic is that the world would be liberated.

Loki’s Ability and the Mural

ワンピース 第1138話 ‟神典(ハーレイ)”とエルバフの壁画

The mural is said to have been drawn during the Void Century, but how it connects to the records of the “Harley” (sacred texts) is still unclear.

The dragon-like figure depicted at the center of the mural—could that be the very ability Loki is showing now?

Also, the figures breathing fire at each other look more like “Ryū” (Eastern dragons). And Kozuki Momonosukealready possesses that kind of power. He, too, is likely to play a major role in the “great war” that will erupt in the final stage. After all, Momonosuke is also someone destined to guide the world toward its dawn.

We still don’t fully understand what the mural represents, but at the very least, it seems to depict a massive war that engulfs the entire world. Something that is yet to happen—something in the future.

And even the name “Celestial Dragons” remains a mystery…
