【ONE PIECE】Was Whitebeard the Weakest Yonko?Kaido > Big Mom >>> Shanks > Whitebeard

#11 MARINE FORD

Was Whitebeard really the weakest Yonko? Marineford showed a legend pushed to his limit. Fans are still arguing if Whitebeard was weak, or just past his prime.

Why Whitebeard looked weak at Marineford

1: Anonymous Pirate

Whitebeard

  • He died after taking 267 sword wounds152 bullets, and 46 cannon hits.
  • His power only destroyed part of Marineford. Just an old “quake guy.”
  • Even using his Devil Fruit, he could not kill Blackbeard, who takes extra damage.
  • He had only about 10 commanders.
  • One commander had a 500 million bounty, could not even use Haki, and was just a Logia.

Big Mom

  • Her skin is so tough that she is hard to damage.
  • Her scream alone can destroy rockets.
  • When she gets angry, she becomes huge.
  • If an enemy feels fear, she can steal their lifespan.
  • As a child, she easily defeated Elbaf warriors.
  • She has 40+ commanders with high bounties.
  • Many of them are close to 1 billion.

Compared to this, Whitebeard and his crew look like small pirates lol

4: Anonymous Pirate

Yeah, he was weak.

5: Anonymous Pirate

Also, he was supposed to be a Haki user,
but he took way too much damage. How weak was that old man?

“No scars on his back,” they say,
but that’s only because everyone protected him.

Prime excuses, age, and illness

6: Anonymous Pirate

It’s fine to say Whitebeard was weak,
but making excuses like “that was his prime” is just sad.

7: Anonymous Pirate

>>6
Big Mom is past her prime too
and she is still that strong.

10: Anonymous Pirate

Also, losing one arm to a Sea King from some quiet village in the East Blue
doesn’t really look good either.

11: Anonymous Pirate

Haki was added later.

Yonko comparison and power ranking

15: Anonymous Pirate

Kaido > Big Mom >>> Shanks > Whitebeard

18: Anonymous Pirate

Even Big Mom couldn’t beat Whitebeard,
so calling Whitebeard the strongest is fine.

But Whitebeard didn’t have the cold heart that Big Mom or Kaido had.
If he really went all out and did whatever he wanted,
the world would have flipped upside down.

Crew strength and battlefield impact

28: Anonymous Pirate

Whitebeard wasn’t chasing strength.
What he wanted was family.

32: Anonymous Pirate

I thought Whitebeard came to the war just to have fun.
I thought he could one-shot an Admiral.

But then that happened…
Yeah, he did get stabbed by Squard, but still.

33: Anonymous Pirate

The people around Whitebeard were too weak.
Didn’t he have more strong Devil Fruit users?

35: Anonymous Pirate

I wanted Whitebeard to at least take down one Admiral.
Even if it meant trading lives with Akainu.

40: Anonymous Pirate

Whitebeard’s power was probably best for keeping normal people in check.
The Government wouldn’t just ignore someone who could destroy the world in one hit.
Thinking about it like certain “ability users,” it kind of makes sense.

41: Anonymous Pirate

I mean, Whitebeard was already an old soldier near the end of his life.
His crew being weak is hard to defend though.

48: Anonymous Pirate

Compared to CrocodileDoflamingo, and Big Mom,
way fewer of Whitebeard’s crew actually did anything.

50: Anonymous Pirate

Whitebeard couldn’t beat TeachAkainu, or Aokiji

Commanders vs Admirals

57: Anonymous Pirate

Good: Whitebeard — still loved his foolish sons
Good: Shanks — losing one arm is no big deal
Evil: Big Mom — not even real family with Lola
?: Kaido — tries to kill himself and fails
Good → Evil: Blackbeard — “If you aim higher, your fist won’t shake” → targets Luffy

60: Anonymous Pirate

Marco → even with an Admiral
Jozu → even with an Admiral and a Warlord
Vista → even with a Warlord

Only three strong ones lol

62: Anonymous Pirate

>>60
How is that even?
They all got beaten in the end lol

63: Anonymous Pirate

>>62
They could defend for a while,
but it looked like they could barely attack at all.
Against three Admirals,
even Yonko commanders or All-Stars would struggle.

61: Anonymous Pirate

Even with all the commanders together,
they couldn’t properly hold back Akainu alone. That’s bad.

64: Anonymous Pirate

Even the allied crews got completely wrecked by Whitebeard’s enemies.

68: Anonymous Pirate

The fighting power of the forces is obvious:
Big Mom >>>> Whitebeard

69: Anonymous Pirate

It’s not the age debuff.
The illness mattered way more.

70: Anonymous Pirate

The illness was the biggest factor for sure.
Plus the Squard stab was a huge handicap.

Honestly, even with all that,
the fact that Whitebeard still landed a hit on Akainu,
who later became Fleet Admiral, is crazy strong.

71: Anonymous Pirate

He was probably on good terms with Big Mom and Kaido too.

👉 So, was Whitebeard really not that strong? I still like him.

Whitebeard was not weak.
But at Marineford, he was no longer the strongest.

Illness, age, and crew limits all mattered.
Compared to Big Mom and Kaido, his overall power was clearly lower.

That is why the debate about the weakest Yonko still continues.
